ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: This invention is concerned with organosilicon copoly- mers having a recurrent unit of the general formula Image wherein R" represents a group selected among the groups -OH, -[O]-[NH]+ and -[O]- [Me]+, Me being an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, and more than 50 % of the Image units are substituted by Image units, RV being a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon residue containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms. These copolymers can be added to silanes of the general for- mula (Y-Rp)a Image X4-a-b to form aqueous solutions of silicon compounds having improved properties for use as coatings on metal, inorganic-oxidic materials or plastics or as adhesion promoters between polymers and inorganic-oxidic materials.
