ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention is concerned with aqueous solutions of organosilicon compounds, which can be used for producing coatings on metals, inorganic oxidic materials or plastics or as adhesion promoters between polymers and inorganic oxidic materials. In accordance with the invention these solutions contain: a) silanes of the general formula Image , wherein a is 1 or 2, b is 0 or 1 or 2, p is 0 or 1 and a+b is lower than or equal to 3, R represents an alkylene residue containing from l to 8 atoms of carbon or an arylene residue, R' represents an alkyl residue containing from 1 to 4 atoms of carbon or a phenyl residue, X represents a hydrolyzable residue and Y represents a functional group or a -CH3 residue and b) copolymers having recurrent units of the formula Image wherein R" represents a group selected among the groups -OH, -[O]-[NH4]+ and -[O]- [Me]+ , Me being alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, and Z is a residue of the formula Image , or a residue of the formula Image or Image wherein R''' represents an alkyl residue containing from 1 to 20 atoms of carbon.
