AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OR DISPERSIONS OF POLYISOCYANATE ADDITION PRODUCTS> A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF AND THE USE THEREOF AS COATING AGENTS OR AS SIZING AGENTS FOR PAPER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to aqueous solu- tions or dispersions of polyisocyanate addition products, which contain a quantity of incorporated sulphonate and/or carboxylate groups and optionally ethylene oxide units, -CH2-CH2-O-, incorporated in a polyether chain to guarantee the solubility or dispersi- bility thereof in water, the content of sulphonate and/or carboxylate groups being about 2 to 300 milli- equivalents per 100 g of solids and the content of the aforementioned ethylene oxide units being up to about 25% by weight, based on solids, characterized in that the polyisocyanate addition products have segments incorporated in the polymer chain which correspond to the following general formula: Image in an amount of about 0.1 to 20% by weight based on the above formulas, but excluding the weight of R. The present invention also relates to a process for the production of the polyisocyanate addition products and to their use as coating agents for flexible or inflexible substrates and as sizing agents for paper or for the production of sizing agents for paper.
