The invention provides surfactant combinations comprising: (a) one or more alkyl ether sulfates; (b) at least one amphoteric interface-active glycine compound of the general formula (I) Image in which R is an alkyl radical of a natural or synthetic monobasic fatty acid or a fatty acid mixture having 5 to 21, preferably 7 to 17, carbon atoms, which may optionally be branched and may optionally contain multiple bonds, and M may be hydrogen, ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; and optionally (c) 0 to 50% of one of more alkyl and/or aryl sulfonates; (d) 0 to 15% of one or more alkyl sulfates; and/or (e) 0 to 20% of one or more amphoteric surfactants.
