A method of improving the adhesion and durability of both new paint coatings, and older cracked or peeling paint coatings on an architectural surface is described. An aqueous wax emulsion (AWE) which, upon drying, forms an aqueous wax emulsion coating (AWEC), is adherent to an architectural surface as well as to new and older paint coatings. The AWEC is furthermore waterproof, and is hyperpermeable to water vapor, thereby preventing moisture-related bubbling and peeling of the new and older paint coatings.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'amélioration de l'adhésion et de la durabilité à la fois de nouvelles couches de peinture et de couches anciennes de peinture, craquelées ou écaillées, sur une surface architecturale. On utilise une émulsion aqueuse de cires, laquelle, lors de son séchage, forme un revêtement à base d'émulsion aqueuse de cires, et adhère à une surface architecturale de même qu'à des couches de peinture nouvelles ou anciennes. En outre, ce revêtement à base d'émulsion aqueuse de cires est étanche et même extrêmement perméable à la vapeur d'eau, empêchant ainsi le bullage et l'écaillage des couches nouvelles et anciennes de peinture.
