The present invention relates to arborescent polymers and to a process for making same. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to arborescent polymers formed from at least one inimer and at least one isoolefin that have been end-functionalized with a polymer or copolymer having a low glass transition temperature (Tg), and to a process for making such arborescent polymers. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to arborescent polymers formed from at least one inimer and at least one isoolefin that have been end-functionalized with less than about 5 weight percent end blocks derived from a polymer or copolymer having a high glass transition temperature (Tg), and to a process for making such arborescent polymers.
La présente invention concerne des polymères arborescents et un procédé servant à fabriquer ceux-ci. Dans un mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne des polymères arborescents formés à partir d'au moins un initiateur-monomère et d'au moins une isooléfine qui ont été fonctionnalisés en extrémité avec un polymère ou copolymère ayant une faible température de transition vitreuse (Tg); et un procédé servant à fabriquer de tels polymères arborescents. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne des polymères arborescents formés à partir d'au moins un initiateur-monomère et d'au moins une isooléfine qui ont été fonctionnalisés en extrémité avec moins d'environ 5 pour cent en poids de blocs terminaux dérivés d'un polymère ou copolymère ayant une température de transition vitreuse (Tg) élevée; et un procédé servant à fabriquer de tels polymères arborescents.
