- 13 - ARC-COSINE PHASE MODULATORS Abstract For use, for example, in an interferometric amplifier of high frequency amplitude modulated signals, arc-cosine phase modulation is achieved by transforming (10) the baseband signal with a tanh-1 transformation function, by modulating (20) a carrier signal with a quadrature sum of two exponential signals related to the inverse hyperbolic tangent signal, and by hard limiting (30) and filtering the modulated signal.
