ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In torsional vibration assemblies, the arcuately bowed springs used therein usually are formed from straight coil springs. The bowing of such coil springs tends to produce internal stresses in the springs as the springs try to maintain their linear alignment. To produce springs having minimum internal stresses, the spring (34) is made in an arcuate shape, heat treated and allowed to cool at ambient temperatures. The spring (34) can be used in assemblies to reduce torsional vibrations from vehicle engines.
