The invention concerns medical compression stockings and sleeves, the main portion of which is made out of stretch knitted fabric, used to compress a leg or arm in order to treat venous or lymphatic insufficiency. In this invention, the top portion of the stocking or sleeve consists of an elasticized band made out of elastic lace or braid, covered on the inside with a patterned anti-slip material, the fibres constituting the braid or lace of this band being selected to ensure that the said band has a low-gradient elongation curve and exerts less pressure on the limb than the main portion of the stocking or sleeve below the band.

L'invention concerne un article de contention à usage médical comportant une partie principale en tricot élastique servant à comprimer une jambe ou un bras pour traiter une insuffisance veineuse ou lymphatique. Conformément à l'invention, la partie principale se prolonge supérieurement par une bande élastique de maintien formée d'une tresse ou dentelle élastique revêtue, du côté intérieur, d'un motif réalisé en un matériau d'anti-glissement, les fibres constituant la tresse ou la dentelle de cette bande étant choisies de façon que ladite bande présente à la fois une caractéristique d'allongement à faible pente, et exerce sur le membre concerné une pression qui est inférieure à celle qu'exerce la partie principale de l'article au voisinage de ladite bande.
