A car seat includes cantilever armrests spaced from the seat portion of the car seat and adapted to receive a beverage container holder for holding juice boxes or other drinks. The cantilever armrests are attached to and extend outward from the backrest at a height above the car seat by an amount generally equal to the distance between a child's elbow a.nd the child's seat. The child may rest his or her forearms on the armrests. The armrests may be rigidly attached or pivotally attached to the car seat. A beverage container holder is removably mounted to one of the armrests. The beverage container holder has a flange that extends parallel to a central axis of the beverage container holder and that is spaced from the outer side surface of the beverage container holder. The armrests include a receptacle, preferably a slot, to receive the flange of the beverage container holder.
