ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention is directed to an aromatic bis(di-Y-dioxaphosphorinane) represented by the formula: Image wherein Ar is a divalent aromatic radical having each of its valences on an aromatic ring; each Y is individ- ually oxygen or sulfur; n is a whole number from 1 to 10; m is a whole number from 1 to 3; each R is individ- ually a divalent aliphatic radical and each R' is individually hydrogen or a monovalent radical provided that the aromatic bis(di-Y-dioxaphosphorinane) is inert to a carbonate polymer. This invention is also directed to polycarbonate compositions containing the bis(di-Y- -dioxaphosphorinane) compounds as thermal stabilizers These compositions show improved extrusion stability, thermal stability, hydrolytic stability a ?sured by the amount of change in melt flow viscosity, yellowness index and Izod impact strength.
