Disclosed are aromatic sulphoxides and sulphones of formula (I), in which the substituents and index have the following meanings: X is nitrogen or a methine group C-H; Y is oxygen or sulphur; Z is nitrogen or a group C-R5; n is 1 or 2; R1 is halogen, alkyl, alkyl halide, alkoxy, alkoxy halide, alkylthio, alkylamino and/or dialkylamino; R2 is alkyl, alkyl halide, alkoxy halide; R3 is hydrogen, a group OR6, a group of formula (a) shown in which R7 and R8 can be either identical or different and m can be 0 or 1; R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 have the meanings indicated in claim 1.
