The invention relates to flame retardant compositions, wherein salts of selected aromatic sulphonic acids are present in a polycarbonate substrate. The compositions attain the desirable V-0 rating, according to UL-94 (Underwriter's Laboratories Subject 94) and other excellent ratings in related test methods while preserving the excellent mechanical, chemical and thermal properties of polycarbonates, such as light transparency.

L'invention concerne des compositions ignifuges caractérisées en ce que des sels d'acides sulfoniques aromatiques choisis sont présents dans un substrat polycarbonate. Les compositions permettent d'obtenir le classement V-0 souhaité, selon UL-94 (Underwriter's Laboratories Subject 94) et d'autres classements excellents selon des procédés de test associés, tout en maintenant les excellentes propriétés mécaniques, chimiques et thermiques des polycarbonates, telles que la transparence à la lumière.
