ABSTRACT The invention relates to a large surface control panel which is made of wood. A major portion of the control panel is made of a large piece of solid wood while a remaining portion of the control panel is of a reduced thickness of 1.5 - 6.0 mm. This portion of the control panel which is of reduced thickness is constructed from sheets of wood that are positioned immediately adjacent to one another, with the adjacent sheets of wood being arranged so that the principal directions of the grain of wood run cross-wise to each other.
