14-01-1980 1 PHN 9427 ABSTRACT: Arrangement for checking the synchronisation of a data signal receiver. When frequency division is used as part of the clock signal regeneration process, a phase ambiguity may occur. To eliminate this am- biguity use is made of a monitoring device. A frequently used criterion is derived from the information which is contained in the zero-crossings of the data signal. A problem is presented by the signal distortion. In the present monitoring circuit the data signal is sampled twice in each symbol interval and a reliable criterion is obtained by integration of the amplitude differences of the samples. Used in baseband data transmission, in the band from 0 Hz to twice the bit frequency. Fig. 3.
