ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Arrangement for loading a cargo compartment (3) in particular that of an airplane with piece goods, with at least one conveying device (9), able to be moved by a motor from a loading aperture (5) of the cargo compartment (3) outwards in a direction towards its opposite end, which device covers the surface of the floor(14) of the cargo compartment (3), and by means of which piece goods placed on the conveying in an intermittently progressive manner away from the loading aperture (5) into the cargo compartment (5), characterised in that the conveying device (9) displays a plurality of high-tensile flexible tensioning elements (bands 10), disposed adjacently to each other at intervals, which, at the end (6) of the cargo compartment (3) opposite the loading aperture (5), can be wound up onto rollers (11,12), and which in the region of the loading aperture (5) are reversed by way of a thin guide profile (13), and in that the intervening space between the tensioning elements (bands 10) on one section at least approximately equivalent to the depth of the cargo room (3) is bridged by means of a flexible textile material such as nylon fabric for the formation of a carpet-like conveying surface (18).
