ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement for measuring the distance between two successive track-carried objects which are equipped with a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter of the forward- most object transmits a signal which is received by the re- ceiver of the next following object. The signal is trans- mitted over a line having a predefined signal attenuation factor so that the magnitude of the signal received by the receiver in the next following object is indicative of the distance to the forwardmost track-carried object. A single U-shaped core and windings associated therewith is utilized to transmit the signal into the line in the transmitter as well as receive the signal from the line in the receiver.
