Apparatus (1) for permitting release of a motor vehicle foot pedal, in a frontal crash, having a primary pedal arm. (12) carrying a foot pad (14) and a secondary pedal arm (2) linked to the primary pedal arm (12) and provided at its lower end an open aperture (5) to receive a portion of a linkage pin (17). A trigger lever (6) is mounted on the secondary pedal arm (15) to be struck in a crash situation, and displaced, by a non-deforinable portion (20) of a motor vehicle. The trigger lever (6) is provided at its other end with an open aperture (10) also to receive the linkage pin (17) and, in nomial operation of the arrangement, to captivate the linkage pin (17) within the open aperture (5). A shearable rivet (7) connects the trigger lever (6) and the secondary pedal arm (2), restraining displacement of the trigger lever (6) with respect to the secondary pedal arm (2) so as to retain captivation of the linkage pin (17) until a crash occurs.

Dispositif (1) permettant le relâchement d'une pédale de véhicule automobile en cas de collision frontale, comprenant un levier de pédale primaire (12) muni d'un couvre-pédale (14) et un levier de pédale secondaire (2), relié au levier de pédale primaire (12), dont la partie inférieure est dotée d'une ouverture (5) pour recevoir en partie une tige de liaison (17). Un levier déclencheur (6) est monté sur le levier de pédale secondaire (15) de façon à ce qu'il soit frappé en cas de collision et déplacé par une partie non déformable (20) du véhicule automobile. Le levier déclencheur (6) est placé à l'autre extrémité et comporte une ouverture (10) permettant aussi de recevoir la tige de liaison (17) et, en situation de fonctionnement normal du dispositif, de retenir la tige de liaison (17) dans l'ouverture (5). Un rivet sectionnable (7) relie le levier déclencheur (6) au levier de pédale secondaire (2), restreignant le mouvement du levier déclencheur (6) par rapport au levier de pédale secondaire (2) de manière à maintenir la tige de liaison en place (17) jusqu'à ce que se produise une collision.
