ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Leakage of oil from a rotatable assembly is reduced by an arrangement comprising a shaft rotatably supported by a bearing assembly located within a housing. The housing includes a cavity surrounding a portion of the shaft and extending between the bearing assembly and an end wall of the housing through which the shaft extends. A flinger is mounted on the portion of the shaft surrounded by the cavity for rotation therewith, and an oil deflector is located in the cavity . Fluid flow within the housing caused by equalistion of pressure between the interior and the exterior of the housing causing leakage of oil takes place around the periphery of the oil deflector (i.e in that part of the cavity occupied by air and oil foam) rather than between the shaft and the deflector where liquid oil may be lodged when such fluid flow is directed towards the exterior of the housing. Oil passing the deflector tends to catch in the channel and be directed back to the sump. Any oil passing the channel tends to be thrown by the flinger outwards and away from the point where the shaft passes out of the cavity. 7.
