ABSTRACT An arrangement for the sterilizing of a packing material web with the object of removing any contaminations and bacteria present on the material web before the web is converted to individual packing containers. The sterilization takes place with the help of chemical sterilizing agents, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, in combination with the mechanical treatment of the packing material web. The arrangement consists of a rotary brush located in a container which via an opening in the con- tainer treats the side of the passing material web which thereafter is to form the inside in the packing container. At the same time a liquid sterilizing agent introduced into the container is flung with the help of the brush against the surface of the packing material web. The bulk of the contaminated sterilizing agent is separated thereafter together with the contaminations and bacteria removed from the material web, in that owing to the rotation of the brush it is flung out through another opening in the container wall, which opening collects the sterilizing agent and leads the same away for purification and re-use. The arrangement is particularly suitable for high- capacity packing machines of the aseptic type, wherein a relatively rapidly moving packing material web is to be cleaned and sterilized.
