ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus is disclosed for agitating and pumping material of a pumpable consistency. The apparatus includes a container for holding the material to be agitated and pumped, a pump for pumping material from the container, a flexible conduit connected to the output of the pump and a reversible motor which is drivably connected to a rotatable agitator located in the container. Disposed between the agitator and the pump is a coupling means adapted to couple the agitator to the pump when the agitator is driven in a first rotational direction, and to hold the agitator disengaged from the pump when the agitator is driven in a second rotational direction, opposite to the first.
