ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement for advancing a continuous strip of mutual- ly integrated nails to the nail driving section of a nail driving apparatus provided with a safety-catch device and a nail strip magazine, and to hold the nail strip in the nail driving section. Single nails are stripped from the nail strip in the nail driving section and driven, into the workpiece. The magazine has a nail strip accommodating strip guide path which adjoins the nail driving section and in which the nail strip is held biassed towards a nail driving location in the nail driving section by strip feed means located adjacent the strip guide path and engaging the nail strip located therein. In the nail driving loca- tion, a loose nail is prevented from twisting. For exactly aligning the foremost nail in the nail strip in the nail driving location, a rotatable nail positioning element is journalled for rotation and sideways movement in the nail driving section and is capable of engaging the nail strip. The safetycatch device is movable relative to the nail driving section and is held in a forward safety position by means of a coil spring. Between a latching surface in the region of the positioning element of the safety device is a movable latching element. As the safety-catch device is retracted to its nail firing mode the latching sur- face is urged against the spherical latching element, which in turn moves the nail positioning element into position-fixing latching engagement with the nail strip, in a region thereof immediately behind the foremost nail in the nail driving location.
