ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement of screens is disclosed to give rise to a moire pattern for visually determining a specific level and whether it is parallel to a known level such as a ground plane. It has been found in certain light conditions existing arrangements of screens product an unclear or distorted moire pattern In the present arrangement each screen includes a number of opaque longitudinal objects which are separated by transparent interspaces, each cross-section of the longitudinal objects is formed so that light incident from behind the screens seen from the observer is prevented from being reflected on the longitudinal objects towards the observer when the observer is within an angle sector relative to the arrangement within which sector the arrangement is intended to be used, where the cross- section of the longitudinal objects is inside defining lines which are constituted of two rear straight defining lines inter- secting each other, seen from the observer, behind a first line which is the greatest width of the cross-section in the plane of the screens perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal objects, and of two forward straight lines intersecting each other, seen from the observer, in front of the first line where rear respective lines run through the respective end points of the first line forming an acute angle with the first line corresponding to 90° minus half the angle constituting the angle sector, and where the forward respective straight lines also run through the respective end points of the first line and are tangential to the rear portion of the cross-section of the respective adjacent longitudinal object.
