ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In an arrangement at a metallurgical vessel including a protection tube for a metal casting jet streaming out of an outflow opening of the vessel, the jacket of the protection tube extends from the outflow opening of the vessel over at least part of the longitudinal extension of the casting jet, surrounding the casting jet peripherally and possessing an opening that is closeable by a covering. In order to be able to remove and install the protection tube at any time during the casting operation without interrupting the same and without melt impinging on the tube, the opening of the jacket is designed as a slot extending over the total length of the jacket and whose width is larger than the diameter of the casting jet, and the jacket is detachably fastened to the metallurgical vessel by means be a quick lock.
