ABSTRACT Title: ARRANGEMENTS FOR FEEDING FLUIDISING GAS TO A FLUIDISED BED COMBUSTION APPARATUS The specification describes an arrangement by which the ends of fluidising gas supply pipes passing through a wall (a side wall or a bottom wall) of a fluidised bed container may be cooled. In the described embodiments the outermost end of the gas supply pipe (12) is welded to a tube plate (15) and the tube plate is in turn cooled. In one described embodiment the tube plate is welded to the container wall and is cooled by means of a coolant flowing thereagainst through tubes (16) welded to the surface of the tube plate. In another arrangement the tube plate 15 is spaced from the wall 11 of the container to form a water jacket (30) through which coolant fluid is-arranged to flow, The specification further describes devices for monitoring the flow of coolant fluid adjacent the tube plate.
