A method and compounds are provided for inhibiting the synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins. Compounds of the invention comprise oligonucleotides specific for nuclear proto-oncogenes. Preferably, oligonucleotides of the invention are selected from the group consisting of c- myc and c-myb and are locally administered. The invention finds use in the treatment of a variety of disorders, including sclerotic disorders and restenosis, associated with the inappropriate synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins, particularly collagen.
L'invention porte sur un procédé, ainsi que sur des composés correspondants, destinés à inhiber la synthèse de protéines de matrice extra-cellulaire. Les composés selon l'invention comprennent des oligonucléotides spécifiques de proto-oncogènes nucléaires. Les oligonucléotides selon l'invention, qui sont, de préférence, choisis dans le groupe constitué de c-myc et c-myb, sont administrés localement.
