An article carrier assembly (10) is partially recessed into a recessed roof panel joint channel (48). The article carrier assembly side rail (16) is attachable to the vehicle roof panel, and includes a track and an outboard corner portion (46). A retainer (22) includes a foot portion (30) slidably disposed within the track for supporting the retainer (22) on the side rails (16). A latch comprises a lever (34) pivotally connected to the retainer (22) for indexing the retainer (22) at discrete positions along the side rail (16). A trim rail pad (44) is secured with respect to the side rail (16) and extends from the outboard corner portion (46) into the joint channel (48) in a manner to substantially hide the side rail (16) therebehind when viewed from a position alongside the vehicle. Alternative embodiments for the trim rail pad and latch are provided.
Ensemble galerie partiellement placé dans un canal de jointure de panneau de toit. Le montant latéral de l'ensemble galerie peut être attaché au panneau de toit du véhicule et comporte un rail et une partie angulaire extérieure. Un dispositif de retenue comporte une partie base placée coulissante dans le rail afin de supporter le dispositif de retenue sur les montants latéraux. Un verrou comporte un levier connecté pivotant au dispositif de retenue afin de placer ledit dispositif à des positions individuelles le long du montant latéral. Une garniture de parement est fixée le long du montant latéral et s'étend depuis la partie angulaire extérieure dans le canal de jointure de manière à cacher pratiquement le montant latéral à la vue lorsque l'on regarde depuis une position latérale par rapport au véhicule. D'autres modes de réalisation de la garniture de parement et du verrou sont également décrits.
