ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE An article chute comprises a helical floor (1) having a peripheral side wall (3), an outer part of the floor being cambered at an angle which is so related to the pitch and radius of the chute that articles descend the chute under conditions in which their velocity does not exceed a given maximum. The floor of the chute is inclined at substantially the same camber angle over at least 85% of the extent of the floor.
