- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to an article conveyor system. The system is comprised of a conveyor which is travelling at a predetermined fixed speed. A vertical belt unit is provided which is comprised of two belts which travel at a speed lower than said predetermined fixed speed. The two belts are separated by a distance which is flexibly adjustable to the width of the articles. The belts slow down articles moving on the conveyor and separate them by a predetermined distance from one another when the articles leave the belt unit. The invention can further include a pusher which removes the articles, in a perpendicular manner from the conveyor. A second conveyor is located at the output of the pusher and travels at the same speed at the pusher to provide a smooth transition of articles through a perpendicular change in direction.
