Method and apparatus for storing and dispensing articles, one at a time, from the bottom of a stack of like articles. The articles are yieldably supported in at least one upright stack above an outlet, e.g., a resilient choke, sized to pass the articles if forced therethrough. Articles are dispensed by pressing downwardly on the stack with sufficient force and for sufficient duration to overcome the yieldable supporting force and move the lowest article through the outlet. Sensors may be provided for sensing when an article is dispensed, when the tube is empty, and the type of article in the holder. The method and apparatus are especially useful in a vial-based automated system for processing multiple specimens of biological fluid, wherein a filter assembly must be dispensed into a filtration chamber associated with each specimen vial.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de stocker et de distribuer des articles, un à un, en partant du fond d'une pile d'articles similaires. Ces articles sont disposés de manière souple dans au moins une pile verticale au-dessus d'une sortie, telle qu'un rétrécissement élastique, dimensionnée pour permettre aux articles de la traverser lorsqu'ils y sont poussés. Pour distribuer lesdits articles, une pression vers le bas doit être exercée sur la pile avec une force suffisante et pendant un temps assez long pour contrer la force de support souple et diriger l'article le plus bas à travers la sortie. Des capteurs peuvent être prévus pour détecter la distribution d'un article, la vacuité du tube, ainsi que le type d'article dans le support. Ces procédé et appareil sont particulièrement utiles dans un système automatique à flacons servant à traiter divers échantillons de liquides biologiques, dans lequel un ensemble filtrant doit être distribué dans une chambre de filtration associée à chaque flacon d'échantillon.
