Optionally, the laser engraved identification mark (22) represents species data pertaining to the article while the polymer coating can be used to create a second identification mark (24) that represents genus data pertaining to the article, consequently facilitating visual differentiation of various articles by the consumer while also reducing manufacturing costs.
