An articulated lightweight and easy to manoeuvre fuel delivery vehicle comprising: a power unit, said power unit having cab and curbside entry means; a payload unit having a chassis and a high volume barrel for carrying fuel, said tank chassis and barrel formed from lightweight metals; an articulated means for connecting said power unit to said payload unit; and a pumping means on said power unit connected to said payload unit for pumping fuel out of said barrel to a fuel delivery means; the arrangement being such that said power unit and payload unit are of sufficiently low profile and length for travel on residential roads for delivery of fuel to multiple households and commercial establishments. Together with a method of delivering fuel to multiple households and commercial establishments in the service area of an articulated fuel delivery vehicle comprising the steps of: establishing a depot of payload units within the area which have been loaded with fuel; and connecting said payload unit to a power unit to form an articulated delivery vehicle for the delivery of the payload unit's fuel to multiple household and commercial establishments.
Cette invention concerne un véhiculé ravitailleur articulé, léger et facile à manoeuvrer, composé d'une unité de traction portant une cabine de conduite à entrée côté trottoir; d'une remorque de charge formée d'un châssis et d'un gros réservoir pour le transport du combustible, ces deux éléments constitutifs étant faits de métaux légers; d'un moyen d'attelage articulé entre les deux unités et d'un moyen de pompage monté sur l'unité de traction et raccordé au réservoir pour en extraire le combustible et le refouler vers un moyen de distribution. L'ensemble se caractérise par une longueur et un encombrement suffisamment faibles pour pouvoir circuler dans des quartiers résidentiels pour livrer du combustible à des habitations à logements multiples et des établissements commerciaux. L'invention propose également une méthode de ravitaillement par secteur du type de clientèle décrit ci-dessus, méthode qui suppose l'établissement, dans le secteur à ravitailler, d'un terminal pour remorques de charge remplies de combustible et l'attelage d'une remorque à l'unité de traction pour constituer un véhicule articulé apte à assurer la desserte prévue.
