A hook-shaped terminal device for an upper extremity prosthetic system of the type having two matching hook-shaped elements, one passive element (1) and one active element (2), and a bifid thumb (6). The articulation of the active element (2) accomplished by means of an "S" shaped segment (4) of the proximal aspect of the active element (2) passing through a hinge window (5) on the proximal aspect of the passive element (1). A bifid thumb (6) affixed to the dorsal aspect of the active element (2) distal to the "S" shaped segment (4) provides a lever for articulation. A mounting stud (12) at the proximal end of the passive element (1) provides a means of affixing the terminal device to an upper extremity prosthetic system. Closure is provided by rubber closure bands (10).
