- 16 - ABSTRACT An articulated industrial laser robot having a robot base (21, 41, 81), at least two articulated robot arms (24 and 26, 44 and 46, 82 and 84) held directly or through a swivel robot body (42) on the robot base, and a robot wrist assembly (48, 86) for emitting a laser beam, held on the extremity of the robot arms (24 and 26, 44 and 46, 82 and 84). The articulated industrial laser robot is provided with a telescopic laser beam path means (31, 50, 96) comprising a hollow, externally ball-splined shaft (30, 54, 94) and an internally ball-splined sleeve (28, 52, 92), and extended between the two robot arms (24 and 26, 44 and 46, 82 and 84) so as to extend and contract according to the relative swing motions of the two robot arms (24 and 26, 44 and 46, 82 and 84). A laser beam emitted by an external laser beam generating unit and transmitted to the robot unit of the articulated industrial laser robot is transmitted through the laser beam path means (31, 50, 96) to the robot wrist assembly (48, 86).
