When it is turned onto a screw or bolt, a nut makes it possible to hold a given object (e.g., part of a machine, part of a tool, clamp assembly) in place. In this invention, the articulated nut and a matching ring make it possible to perform the same function by sliding the two pieces onto a screw or bolt. The ring slides onto the screw or bolt first, then the nut is threaded and fits into the ring which is already in place in such a manner that the nut will not open or move. It takes the same amount of time to install the nut on a screw or bolt of any length, be it 10 centimetres or 1 metre.

UN ECROU EN TOURNANT SUR UNE VIS OU UNE TIGE FILETEE PERMET DE MAINTENIR EN PLACE UN OBJET QUELCONQUE (EX: PIECE D'UNE MACHINE, PIECE D'UN OUTIL, ENSEMBLE DE SERRAGE ...). DANS LA PRESENTE INVENTION, L'ECROU ARTICULE ET UN ANNEAU ADAPTE PERMETTENT D'EXECUTER LA MEME FONCTION EN GLISSANT LES DEUX PIECES SUR UNE VIS OU UNE TIGE FILETEE. L'ANNEAU EST GLISSEE SUR LA VIS OU LA TIGE PUIS ENSUITE L'ECROU EST ENFILE ET S'EMBOITE DANS L'ANNEAU EN PLACE DE FACON A CE QUE L'ECROU NE S'OUVRE PAS NI NE SE DEPLACE. LA VITESSE D'EXECUTION ETANT LA MEME POUR UNE VIS OU UNE TIGE FILETEE DE 10 CM OU POUR CELLE DE 1 METRE.
