An artificial blood vessel having the following characteristics: 1) having an antithrombotic effect; 2) having a tissue affinity; 3) being rapidly converted into endothelium; and 4) allowing regeneration of host tissues; and a process for producing the same. The artificial blood vessel is one collected from a heterologous organism from which the cellular constituents of the blood vessel have been completely eliminated. The above process aims at producing this artificial blood vessel and involves the step of washing a blood vessel collected from a heterologous organism with a surfactant to thereby completely eliminate the cellular constituents of the blood vessel therefrom.

L'invention concerne un vaisseau sanguin artificiel possédant les propriétés suivantes: (1) un effet antithrombotique; (2) une affinité avec les tissus; (3) une capacité de conversion rapide en endothélium; et (4) la régénération des tissus hôtes. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production de ce vaisseau. Le vaisseau sanguin artificiel est prélevé sur un organisme hétérologue dont on a complètement éliminé les constituants cellulaires du vaisseau sanguin. Le procédé selon l'invention est destiné à la production de ce vaisseau sanguin artificiel et consiste à laver un vaisseau sanguin prélevé sur un organisme hétérologue avec un tensioactif pour en éliminer complètement les constituants cellulaires du vaisseau sanguin.
