The present invention provides an artificial dura mater characterized by comprising at least a sheet of a biodegradable and bioabsorbable synthetic polymer and having a storage modulus at ordinary temperature of from 1 x 10 7 to 5 x 10 8 (Pa); and a process for producing an artificial dura mater characterized by dissolving a lactide/ .epsilon.-caprolactone copolymer (in a molar ratio ranging from 40/60 to 60/40) in a solvent, filtering the resultant solution and casting the same followed by air drying.

L'invention concerne une dure-mère artificielle caractérisée par le fait qu'elle comporte au moins une feuille de polymère synthétique dégradable/absorbable in vivo, et qu'elle présente un module de conservation de 1 x 10<7> à 5 x 10<8> (Pa); et un procédé de production de dure-mère artificielle caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte les étapes consistant à dissoudre un copolymère lactide/ epsilon -caprolactone (selon un rapport molaire situé entre 40/60 et 60/40) dans un solvant, filtrer la solution obtenue et mouler celle-ci, ces étapes étant suivies d'un séchage à l'air.
