-20- "ARTIFICIAL IMPLANTABLE DENTAL PROSTHESIS ROOT" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An artificial root for dental prosthesis such as crowns, bridges and the like is provided. Heretofore various types of roots have been tried but they suffer from the prin- ciple disadvantage of rejection due to excessive pressure dur- ing use. They also suffer from loosening due to twisting and tilting during mastication and lack of effective anchoring by the bone healing process. The present invention includes an implantable plate or winged root portion having an upper cap or shoulder which engages the upper surface of the jaw bone to assist in the support of the implant and to reduce the root load thereon. The plate or winged root are perforated so that bone can grow through the perforations whereby the implant be- comes permanently ancylosed to the jaw bone. A slip-on type prosthesis bolt is embedded or otherwise secured to the upper side of the implant upon which the prosthesis may be attached.
