An artificial insemination system and its use requires a sheath (14) which has a first lumen (20) for receiving and holding an endoscope (38), and a second lumen (22) through which semen can be injected into the uterus of the animal to be inseminated. Additionally, the sheath includes a blunt guide probe (30) which extends distally from the distal end of the sheath and a window (36) covering the distal end. When using the system, the endoscope (38) is initially inserted into the first lumen of the sheath (14). The combination of the sheath and endoscope are then inserted into the vagina of the animal, and, using the endoscope, the guide probe is directed through cervix os into the cervix until the distal end of the second lumen is positioned in the uterus. An injector filled with semen is used to inject semen into the uterus through the second lumen.
Système d'insémination artificielle et son utilisation. Ledit système comporte un fourreau (14) doté d'un premier passage (20) destiné à recevoir et à maintenir un endoscope (38), et un second passage (22) à travers lequel du sperme peut être injecté dans l'utérus de l'animal à inséminer. De plus, ledit fourreau comporte une sonde de guidage (30) émoussée qui s'étend distalement depuis d'extrémité distale du fourreau et une fenêtre (36) couvrant ladite extrémité distale. Lors de l'utilisation du système, l'endoscope (38) est introduit initialement dans le premier passage du fourreau (14). La combinaison du fourreau et de l'endoscope est ensuite introduite dans le vagin de l'animal et à l'aide de l'endoscope, la sonde de guidage est dirigée vers l'orifice du col de l'utérus et à travers le col de l'utérus, de manière à pénétrer dans l'utérus jusqu'à ce que l'extrémité distale du second passage soit placée dans l'utérus. Un injecteur rempli de sperme est utilisé pour injecter du sperme dans l'utérus par le second passage.
