ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An artificial skating/blading surface is disclosed for roller skating or roller blading, which is particularly suited to the playing of team sports thereon. The skating surface includes a substantially flat central portion, a wall portion, and an upwardly curved portion providing a smooth transition between the central portion and the wall portion. The upwardly curved portion has a generally elliptical cross- section, which permits the wall portion to form an integral part of the playable surface area. In addition, the wall portion can be transparent so as to permit an unobstructed spectator's view of the game. The central, curved and wall portions of the skating surface cooperate to contributes to maximum speed, excitement and enjoyment of a team game played thereon.
