An artist's paintbrush is disclosed. The paintbrush has bristles, a ferrule and an elongate handle. The bristles have a flat profile and opposite side portions. The bristles are mounted in the ferrule. The ferrule has opposite side portions corresponding to the opposite side portions of the bristles. The elongate handle has one end secured to the ferrule. The elongate handle has opposite side portions corresponding to the opposite side portions of the ferrule and the opposite side portions of the bristles. One or more of the opposite side portions of the bristles, ferrule and handle is distinctly marked.
