The present invention pertains generally to the field of therapeutic compounds, and more specifically to certain aryl-phenyl-sulfonamido-cycloalkyl compounds of the following formula (collectively referred to herein as "APSAC compounds"). The present invention also pertains to pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds, and the use of such compounds and compositions, both in vitro and in vivo, in treatment, for example, of inflammation and/or joint destruction and/or bone loss; of disorders mediated by excessive and/or inappropriate and/or prolonged activation of the immune system; of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, for example, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), atherosclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and the like; of disorders associated with bone loss, such as bone loss associated with excessive osteoclast activity in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer-associated bone disease, Paget's disease and the like, etc.; and of cancer, such as a haematological malignancy, a solid tumour, etc. Formula (I).

Linvention concerne en général le domaine des composés thérapeutiques et plus particulièrement certains composés aryl-phényl-sulfonamino-cycloalkyle représentés par la formule (I) (appelés dans leur ensemble composés APSAC). Linvention concerne également des compositions pharmaceutiques comprenant lesdits composés, lutilisation de ces composés et compositions à la fois in vitro et in vivo, pour traiter par exemple une inflammation et/ou une destruction articulaire et/ou une perte osseuse ; des troubles induits par une activation  excessive et/ou inappropriée et/ou prolongée du système immunitaire ; des troubles inflammatoires et auto-immunes, par exemple la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, le psoriasis, larthrite psoriasique, les maladies pulmonaires obstructives chroniques (COPD), lathérosclérose, les maladies intestinales inflammatoires, la spondylite inflammatoire, et analogue ; des troubles associés à la perte osseuse, telle quune perte osseuse associée à une activité excessive des ostéoclastes dans la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, lostéoporose, les maladies osseuses associées au cancer, la maladie de Paget et analogue, etc. ; le cancer, tel les tumeurs malignes hématologiques, une tumeur solide, etc.
