The invention provides novel ascomycins bearing one or more physiologically hydrolyzable and acceptable acceptable oxycarbonyl moieties or carboxy moieties, such compounds being found useful as pharmaceuticals, especially in the treatment of asthma and dermatitis. Methods of producing the compounds and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds are also provided.
