ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and an apparatus for enabling the aseptic transfer of a fluid which is in one sterile container to another sterile container are disclosed. Each container is provided with a connector enclosing a cavity in communication with the sterile container. The connector is made of a material that melts and flows at a predetermined temperature and has an insert that is resistant to such temperature conditions. In use, the two connectors are held together and subjected to heat and pressure so that contacting portions of the connectors melt and flow away to form a communicating opening between the connectors, while maintaining sterile and closed all other regions of the connectors.
