A suction catheter that has a sufficient sucking amount, that has flexibility capable of satisfactorily following even a bent blood vessel, where a catheter shaft is unlikely to kink when the catheter is inserted into a guiding catheter from the outside of a human body, and that has excellent operability. The suction catheter has a suction lumen (100) for sucking an object and a guide wire shaft (112). The suction lumen (100) is communicated with a hub (106) provided on the base end side of the catheter and has a removable core wire (101) inside the suction lumen (100).
