The present invention relates to a method of assessing the propensity of a plant, if consumed, to contribute to the onset and/or progression of diabetes in a mammal and, more particularly, to a method of assessing the propensity of a tuberous vegetable, if consumed, to contribute to the onset and/or progression of diabetes in a mammal. The method of the present invention is useful, inter alia, for identifying mammals at risk of developing diabetes based on dietary intake. The present invention is further directed to methods of assessing the risk status of an individual for development of diabetes. The present invention still further provides methods for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of diabetes.
La présente invention concerne une méthode d'évaluation de la propension d'une plante, si elle est consommée, à contribuer à l'apparition et/ou à la progression d'un diabète chez un mammifère et, plus particulièrement, une méthode d'évaluation de la propension d'un légume tubéreux, s'il est consommé, à contribuer à l'apparition et/ou à la progression d'un diabète chez un mammifère. La méthode de la présente invention est utilisée, entre autres, pour identifier des mammifères risquant de développer un diabète en fonction de leur apport alimentaire. Cette invention concerne également des méthodes d'évaluation du risque, pour un individu, de développer un diabète ainsi que des méthodes de traitement prophylactique et/ou thérapeutique du diabète.
