An assay for the assessment of drug side effects particularly the side effect of dizziness comprising the steps of: providing a first control animal located on a beam; inducing the control animal to traverse the beam; recording the number of footslips made by the animal during the traversal; providing a second test animal located on the beam or duplicate beam; inducing the test animal to traverse the beam; recording the number of footslips made by the animal during the traversal and determining whether there is an increase, decrease or no change in the number of footslips made by the test animal in comparison to the control animal.
La présente invention concerne un dosage permettant d'évaluer les effets secondaires d'un médicament en particulier les effets secondaires de vertige. Cette technique consiste : à placer un premier animal témoin sur une poutre, à faire en sorte que cet animal témoin traverse cette poutre, à enregistrer le nombre de pas glissés effectués par cet animal durant la traversée, à placer un deuxième animal de test sur la poutre ou sur une poutre semblable, à faire en sorte que cet animal de test traverse cette poutre, à enregistrer le nombre de pas glissés effectués par cet animal durant la traversée et à déterminer si le nombre de pas glissés effectués par l'animal a augmenté, a diminué ou n'a pas été modifié par rapport au nombre de pas effectués par l'animal témoin.
