CA 2048694

2048694 9011525 PCTABS00002 In an assay for an analyte, particularly a hapten, changes in refractive index at a solid surface are monitored by means of surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. The signal is enhanced by conjugating to an assay reagent a substance capable of giving a strong signal. One example is an enzyme used to catalyse production of an insoluble product. Another example is latex beads. Assay formats include sandwich assay format, and a competition assay format preferably involving displacement of the conjugate.
