2044254 9011510 PCTABS00002 An assay technique involves immobilising an enzyme on a solid surface and causing the enzyme to catalyse formation of a reaction product. The solid surface is provided by metal film on a glass prism, and deposition of the reaction product is monitored by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. The analyte may be a substrate for the immobilized enzyme, or may be part of another enzyme system which generates such a substrate.
