A method and apparatus are provided for de- termining weight variations of similar discrete articles intermingled from a plurality of supply sources in a manner identifying the source producing said varia- tion of weight of the individual articles. To this end, groups of articles composed of unequal but prede- termined numbers of articles from at least two said sources (20, 20a) are assembled in receivers (8), the proportions of the articles from the respective sources for each said group being varied in a predetermined manner. When the groups of articles are weighed (28), and the weights related to the known differing proportions of articles from the respective sources in the individual groups, it is possible to determine the source supplying articles of a non-standard weight. In this way weight variations occurring in any one of a number of intermingled streams of articles can be monitored by weighing the groups of equal numbers of said articles.
Procédé et dispositif destinés à déterminer les variations de poids d'articles semblables distincts mais enchevêtrés, provenant d'une pluralité de sources d'approvisionnement, d'une manière qui permette d'identifier la source à l'origine de la variation de poids des articles individuels. Dans ce but, des groupes d'articles composés de nombres inégaux mais prédéterminés d'articles provenant d'au moins deux des sources (20, 20a) sont assemblés dans des réceptacles (8), la proportion du nombre des articles provenant des sources respectives pour chacun de ces groupes d'articles étant variée de manière prédéterminée. Lorsque ces groupes d'articles sont pesés (28), et que ces poids sont rapportés aux différentes proportions connues du nombre des articles provenant des sources respectives dans les groupes individuels, il est possible de déterminer la source fournissant les articles n'ayant pas un poids standard. De cette façon, on peut surveiller les variations de poids survenant dans n'importe quel nombre de flux enchevêtrés d'articles, en pesant les groupes de nombres égaux de ces articles.
